A Few Fun Images

So, I have a tentative rehearsal schedule now. This is very up for change though, seeing as I don't even have a cast yet. But I figure it will be easier to rearrange times than try to schedule times when there's nothing left. I'm feeling pretty good about it though.

What I had originally planned this post for is to show my first draft of a set design and a costume design.

I'm still very early in the process, so these can change over time, but these are the first ideas that came to mind. I'd elaborate more, but right now, it is 1 in the morning and class is at 9:30.

P.S. I have a fog machine!!! Kick ass!!!

A Night at the Bar: Two Plays for the Dearly Departed

Feel free to read it, and make comments if you want. Anything is appreciated, especially in the case of 'Noisy Clocks', because it is still in the tweaking stage.

First Start

Well, I'm set up, and journal ready.

As a catch-up, here's the progress I've made so far, and the problems I have encountered:

• As some of you may have already knew, I was originally planning on writing my own 1 act. That got tossed out the window when I heard Anthony's script at the playwriting finals. Downside was Anthony's script's a 10 minute. I was hoping to remedy this by also taking on another student written script, but that fell through. Therefore I turned back to writing my own 10 minute.
• Over break I did a combination of working on understanding the details of Anthony's script and planning for it, as well as constructing my own play. Jack and Susan were nice enough to give me some obstructions and much help along the way. The one major benefit of writing my own has been incorporating elements of Anthony's show into my own, that would have otherwise been left open had I done an entirely different show.
• One major break I have going for me, is that Anthony is willing to help in the process, and I can call upon that if needed. And I'm really glad that I have this open communication with the writer. It has already been a great help just from the e-mails sent over break.
• I have started gathering props, and set pieces. And by that I mean that I built a bar sign, and I have a bunch of empty beer bottles. My next job is to ask for department help - if anybody finds themselves with empty liquer bottles, to save them. I also have a small fog machine ordered, and it will be shipping to the house here shortly.
• I have gone through the 10 director questions, and found out some things that I had not realized before. Which is great. I think I have a strong idea what I want, and what needs to be done, what themes need highlighted.

That has been about it so far. I have a basic idea of a set design, and I plan on drawing out a tenative design tonight. I also need to go on a search for bar stools, and chairs that are not of the clunky studio kind. As well, I am going on a music search. I have an idea, and Anthony has given me a good start by picking a song he feels sums up his play. So, that's a good starting point. I'm giving the sound design a bit more time though. In addition, I have yet to find a Stage Manager and a Lighting Designer.

I'm hoping to get most of this cleared up by audition time. The less I have to worry about these aspects, the more I can focus on the acting - which is going to require a good amount of work, seeing as most of the cast will be doubling roles. And then there's casting...
